Cosatto Ooba: Is It Really Worth The Money?

One of the highest rated and most expensive pushchair travel system currently available, the Cosatta Ooba has definitely got a lot of Mums and Dads talking. Is there really enough that is special about this latest in high end baby transportation to make it worth paying out for?

Well hopefully by the end of our indepth look at this latest must-have you’ll have a better idea of that… and more importantly if it really is the answer to all  of your problems in getting baby from A to B and back again!

What Exactly is the Cosatto Ooba?

The Cosatto Ooba is a 3-in-1 stroller designed for use for birth and to be able to provide functionality in three main ways, which are as a

  • Pram
  • Pushchair
  • Travel System (though you will need to also purchase the Cosatto Hold 0+ car seat in use it in this way).

Designed to be used with the carrycot (included) to form a  pram from birth, the Ooba has been designed to ensure your baby is able to rest in the lie-flat position. so important to newborns.

As important as it is comfy for them, there’s been equally a lot of thought by Cosatto to make the Ooba as easy as possible to use for you. This is very clearly seen by wonderful touches like the integrated carry handle which makes lifting your baby from the chassis of the pushchair without disturbing them. easy.

The Ooba then grews with baby. Once they hit about 6 months and  can sit and hold their own heads up then the seat unit can change from pram to pushchair mode… but don’t worry with it’s multi position recline it’s still easy for baby to nod off! comfortably.

What’s in the Box?

  • 1 x 3in1 Chassis
  • 1 x Stroller Seat
  • 1 x Carrycot
  • 1 x Footmuff
  • 2 x Raincover
  • 1 x Changing Bag
  • 1 x Headhugger
  • 2 x Adaptors for Hold 0+ Car Seat

How Long Will The Ooba Last You?

The Ooba is far from the cheapest pushchair on the market, so you’re going to want to make sure that you’re not going to have to buy a whole new stroller once your child is a little older.

The good news is with this designer Cosatto model you won’t have to. Designed to be used from birth in carrycot mode, this travel system has been designed to take your child all the way up to the age of 3 (approx 15kg) meaning once you’ve bought this you’re not going to need to buy another pushchair (well that is unless another baby pops up along the way!)

Is The Ooba All Looks And No Functionality?

We’re sure from the number of pushchairs that you’ve looked at that there are pretty pricey options which looks amazing, but when it comes down to it… well they’re just not that hot at actually being very useful. Does the Ooba end up being another example of this?

The good news is no! This is actually a product that has been designed to be as functional as it is stylish.

The Frame

The main frame of the pushchair is a great place to start on proving this. Styled out of a lightweight aluminium chassis that ensures that you’re not going to have to go to the gym for three months just to be able to lift it out of the car boot, it’s very easy to move about. In addition the compact fold mechanism and quick release removable wheels might sound all a little dull, but believe us when your baby is screaming in the back of the car and you’re having to waste precious minutes trying to get your pushchair folded up and actually fitting in the car these things are real lifesavers!

The quick-release removable wheels are a great feature, but this isn’t all this stroller has to offer. A lockable swivel front wheel might sound like another add-on that no-one really needs, but if you’re a family who likes to go jogging (or just move at speed through a busy town centre) then this really makes a difference. If you don’t have the ability to stabilise the front wheel when jogging you’ll find that it can offer wobble about a lot which not only makes for an uncomfortable ride for baby, but also makes it unstable to the point that the stroller can easily tip over.

The action of being able to lock it into place allows for you to provide a much smoother ride for your offspring and also keep you both a lot safer. Add onto this the big wheel design that does a great job of smoothing out the bumps, even on the roughest terrain and it gets a big thumbs up from us.

Oh, and did we mention it also has all round suspension!

The Handle

Why on earth do we have a section on handles in a pushchair review? Surely one handle is very much like another, right? Well in most cases,… yes. However the Ooba has a couple of impressive tricks up it’s sleeve.

The first is the multi-angle design, which allows for duo-directionality on the go. The clever styling also means it’s actually safe to use in a pull along mode and perhaps the simplest, but more important of all is the fact it’s adjustable. In other words, no-one gets out of having to be in control of the pushchair because it’s not quite right for their height!

We also can’t leave out the handle mounted brake designed to make stopping in your tracks a squeeze of the hand away.

So far it’s all been about the looks and basic structure of the pushchair, but what is probably the most important to you is how your baby is going to feel in it. Is it actually designed to be comfortable?

The simple answer is yes, and that really comes down to the fact that it’s been designed to be so adaptable that even if your baby isn’t happy in one position there’s another half a dozen to try – whether that be facing the seat in or out or merely adjusting the recline of the seat.

It doesn’t stop with the seat positions though. With multi position adjustable calf support your baby’s legs are always going to be held in the best position and the removable bumper bar helps protect from any potential bumps. Obviously there’s also the 5 point safety harness which adds the ultimate in safety.

Any Other Bonuses?

Actually yes! As well as the frame and setting, this pushchair comes with a number of additional elements to provide the ultimate in comfort for baby, which include:

  •  Cosy Toes with zip off reversible liner
  • Integrated carrycot carry handle
  • Removable washable carrycot liner
  • FREE changing bag, changing mat and messy bag

Does It Come With Any Guarantees?

Good question .. and we think you’ll like the answer. It comes with a FREE 4 year guarantee (UK & Ireland only), which means that the guarantee should outlive your use of the pushchair (which is up till three). Hopefully this should help you feel very secure if you choose to invest that Cosatto are going to make sure you’re well looked after.

You should also be aware it complies with EN 1888:2012 & BS EN 1466:2004 + A1:2007 so is one of the safest on the market.

ICandy Twin Prams: Are They Worth It?

Established in 2005, the iCandy brand was created to prove that pushchairs and prams could not only be incredibly functional, but also beautifully designed too (think of them as the Dyson vacuum cleaners of the baby transportation world!) Putting all their focus on ensuring cutting edge technology is combined with equally innovative design, it is no wonder that for many new parents looking for twin prams from birth that iCandy prams collection has become the must have.

icandy twin pramsiCandy Apple 2 Pear Double

We have to admit that every time we take a look at the iCandy Apple 2 Pear it takes our breath away a little. A truly stunning piece of design, the iCandy Apple 2 is designed primarily as one baby device, but before you worry about having to go and buy two – don’t! The real beauty of design like this is that it’s only a few clicks and you’ll have a two newborn baby pram system all ready and waiting for you… and if you’re actually looking for something to combine a newborn and a slightly older child then this is equally possible too. For the form simply choose to buy an additional nest and for the second choose a second seat instead.

Still feeling a little confused? No worries! Take a look at the video below which makes it all a little clearer and proves just how easy it is.

Icandy Twin PramsiCandy Peach 3

Designed to work in a very similar way to the iCandy Apple 2, the all new Peach 3 is another piece of design beauty. Again built initially to be a one baby pushchair, you don’t need to do much to have it turn it into a fully functioning double pushchair and pram… just add a Peach Blossom 3 converter and the appropriate nest add-on and you’re all ready to go!

Is Icandy really worth the money?

The truth is buying an iCandy pram or pushchair is going to cost a whole lot more than your average supermarket pushchair or pram and if you’re just looking for a spare to give to the grandparents then no, it’s probably not.

However, if you’re actually looking for something that’s going to tick all the boxes from being able to easily be adapted from newborn baby twin pram to a double pushchair that is not only functional, but also incredibly stylish than you can’t go wrong. Truly the attention to detail on these products simply is mind blowing and while you might not think that features like quickly being able to adapt the Peach 3 to a high chair in restaurants might seem over the top, the truth is once you’ve tried it out, you don’t want to go back again!

In addition there’s also the benefit that the resell value on brands like iCandy is great. If you buy cheap, the reality is that you’re probably not going to get a lot of return on your investment after it’s been used for a few months. On the other hand an iCandy pram or pushchair is highly desirable meaning you’re always likely to find a buyer!

Twin Prams From Birth

Twin prams from birth

You have twins on the way and while that’s an exciting prospect, the truth is it’s also scaring you a little, right? There is so much you need to do to prepare for their arrival and you’re just not sure where to start. Well don’t worry we’re here to help…. and what better place to start than with the the twin pram. An essential for getting from A to B with your new cuties, there are a few things to consider to ensure that the twin pram is suitable from birth so your newborns are well protected and supported.

What is the difference between a twin pushchair and twin pram?

At it’s most simple level, a pushchair (or stroller) tends to be a baby transportation device that is designed to have your baby put into a sitting position. A pram on the other hand is more of a horizontal designed structure focused on allow your baby to lie down.

The truth of the matter though is that you’ll find that many brands actually combine the two with a lot of the latest models offering the best of both worlds with seating designed to be put in either a horizontal or vertical position.

Where is the best place to buy a pram for your newborns?

If cost is an issue than without a doubt then shopping online is the best option… and let’s be honest with a baby on the way however much money you have then cost is going to be a factor as there is a lot to buy!

Don’t however take that to mean that you should buy blind. We definitely don’t recommend that either. What we would suggest is you combine the best of offline and online. Take the time to do as much research as you can offline so you can truly feel how light and easy to move one pram over another is and then come back online to buy!

What are the important things to look for when buying a pram for use from birth?

New babies need to be able to lie flat for at least the first three months.  It is therefore essential that any pram you buy comes with a lie back option.  The reality is though as soon as they are 3 or 4 months old then they start to want to look around. It is for this reason that we often recommend looking beyond a pram option when buying… or making sure that you factor in that you’re probably going to have to upgrade to a pushchair / stroller after a few months.

If you do decide that you want to buy a new pushchair after a pram for the first few months then please consider your babies won’t actually be able to support their heads fully till around six months so you’re want something with multiple seating positions.

What Other Things Should You Consider?

As well as making sure that your pram is comfortable for your newborn babies it’s important that it’s equally comfortable for you to use. Think  about the places you’re going to need to use it before just jumping in and making a decision.

Are you likely to be using public transport a lot? If you are then we’d recommend making sure that the pram you buy is as lightweight and easy to manoeuvre as possible. To the same degree if you’re going to be using it in the car a lot then you’re going to want to make sure that it fits in your boot.
